Introduction

It's somewhat late to write about December 2025. But it was necessary, as I created this blog in January 2026 :).

I'll organize what I did while studying each month in this blog. It'd be a meaningful routine for my study.

What have I done?

말해보카(ePop)

I have been using this app since December 2024. It's sort of a simple vocabulary studying application for Koreans. The core learning algorithm comes from Anki. It has users practice with spaced-repetition quizzes.

Over a year, I've gotten a huge number of words. Getting more high level of words, the harder words, idioms and phrasal verbs have appeared.

ePop is a good example of making learning something into a game. In my previous job, we were also inspired by ePop's UX and learning system.

I've been using not only the word-learning section but also the listening section. It lets me listen to a short sentence and write it down. I couldn't do it initially, however after about a week, I managed to distinguish some common difficult pronunciations.

I don't know if it is really helpful for listening skills. Although, I'm going to try that kind of studying too.

Easy English Podcast

Since December, I have been listening to the Easy English podcast on Spotify. The host's name is Oliver. There are a lot of episodes, and it's mostly about English, cultural stories and others.

He has started the podcast since 2020. Viewing his life stories over the podcast is one of the interesting points to me. The quality of podcast has gradually gotten better. When I just started listening to the first episodes, it was hard to listen at 1.0x speed. Now, I can understand some episodes even at 1.2~1.4x speed. It is a big improvement.

I've listened to about 60% of whole episodes. I don't know whether it's the best way to improve my listening skill at the moment, but I'm going to finish this podcast out of my pure interest. Actually, there is no end. One or two new episodes come out every week.

Updated YouTube Algorithm

For daily English, I've manipulated how YouTube recommends videos to me. I unsubscribed from some channels that I don't watch anymore and subscribed to channels make English learning content or are run by English speakers.

Furthermore, I've pressed the like button on useful videos and extended duration of watching that content. This series of actions led to my YouTube video recommendations becoming mostly English video.

Conclusion

Ok, this was my "What I've done for English" in December 2025.

The next post of this series will be in January 2026. By the time, I hope I'll have better English writing skills.

Thank you for reading.

Happy New Year!
