It feels like I've achieved a priceless triumph. I've finished one of the English textbooks that I started 100 days ago.
가브리엘 잉글리시 다이어리 is that book. This book covers 50 chapters prepared for a daily routine. It's composed of 50 stories and I got through them one by one.
It took me about 100 days to finish these chapters, which means I read a chapter every other day on average.
Here's how I studied. Each chapter took me about 40 ~ 60 minutes a day. I didn't take the online course but stuck to a solid everyday routine.
One chapter comprises a short story and breakdown section for each sentence. There are various useful English phrases or expressions that were helpful to me.
At the beginning of my daily study, I listened to the audio for that chapter twice without subtitles on YouTube first. And then, I read the contents of the chapter and created Anki flashcards from the sentences in that story.
The front side of the card is the Korean meaning of the sentence and the backside includes the English sentence and some pictures of the textbook which explain about phrases or vocabulary in the sentence.
Finally, I did speaking drills with YouTube videos. I repeated each sentence 10 times. It was a useful practice.
Frankly, I hadn't gotten around to following this routine. It's a hassle or burden to me, so I missed it on some days.
Plus, the more chapters I proceeded with, the longer the stories became. Looks like it is designed. I've been swamped with speaking drills and incidental plenty of Anki cards!
As you know, I can't complain, I learned a lot of native speakers' sentences from the book, and I used them even in this note. I'd say I want to give myself some credit because I picked out this book by deliberate searching.
But, the most important thing is that I completed this book. It got me thinking, should I start looking for another English textbook? Well, at least, I won't be able to find the time for it before I handle whole Anki cards review!
I highly recommend this book for English learners. You can count on me!
