Practice

Why is testing yourself effective?

Testing myself is one of the active study methods. If we studied passive ways such as highlighting and reading, we can't clarify whether we know it correctly.

Why can highlighting feel helpful but mislead you?

As I mentioned, highlighting is a passive study method. We can highlight some difficult elements. But it won't remain in our brains. It gives us a false sense of competence.

What is interleaving and why might it work?

Interleaving is a study method where we mix various study materials together. It causes our brains to switch from one that is more prioritzed for a subject to others.

Why does spacing help learning?

Spacing itself doesn't do much. The keystone is sleeping. During sleep, our brains arrange and construct long-term and strong memories. Spcaing ensures that we get enough sleep.

What was the key difference between the two resident groups?

There are a couple of differences between the two groups in both how and when. First, the group that got better grades preferred self-teaching studying methods such as flashcards. Furthermore, they had enough time and sleep before the exam. They didn't cram

How I will study more effectively from now on

Especailly, I've been studying a number of topics including development, English, and so on. English isn't considered a single study topic but can be separated into various skills such as listening, writing, reading, and speaking.

It means that it's imperative that I make some differences to how I study for each category. But, recently, I'm staying focused on English much more than on the others. So I want to discuss English alone. Isn't it reasonable?

For starters, I appreciate that I've been using flashcards named Anki very aggressively. I'm confident that this is the right way to study languages not only because of what this video is saying, but also because of what I'm feeling.

I put in enough time to determine if flashcards are such a cool method to study something.

I'll bring up the next topic, the spacing. Actually, I planned my daily English study deliberately, and I've never missed any lesson until now, so that I'm not sure how spacing applies to me yet.

My only option is studying consistently, and I need to to gain confidence in practicing English myself. I hope I become like that. Practice makes perfect. That is the attitude that I carved into my mind while studying English.
